SPIRIT ANIMAL + TOTEM ANIMAL + POWER ANIMAL

An illustrated guide to symbolism and meaning

Blackbird

Blackbird may be welcome as a good omen or the messenger of bad news. Its dark wings give it associations with the Otherworld and the great mysteries that haunt human souls. It can fly as a messenger of death. Black is also a color associated with magic, mystics, and witches.

Bluebird

It is the color and song of the Bluebird that has given it the nearly universal meaning of happiness and contentment. Healers tell us that blue connects us to our Higher Self and helps open our awareness of the Divine. Mystics consider it the color of harmony, honesty, and security. Our Bluebird Spirit embodies all those characteristics and more!

Blue Jay

Blue jays are incredibly smart and focused, and they don’t tolerate nonsense. In the wild, Blue Jay attacks any enemy with bravery and assertiveness. Bluejay becomes an emblem of opportunity and expediency. They are not picky about where they build a nest. This reminds us that if we look closely, there are many possibilities around us!

Cardinal

Cardinals, in nature, mate for life. They’re also homebodies staying close to home throughout the year. This gives them strong ties to devotion, nurturing, and love. Seeing Cardinals is considered particularly fortunate for relationships because we want those we love to be with us through all seasons or “year-round”.

Condor

In nature, Condors are born with their eyes wide open. As a watcher, Condor Spirit looks to see things in various ways. By so doing, Condor awakens our awareness and reasoning abilities. Condor reminds us that the Divine abides within. All you need do is remain open and prayerful. The grand scheme of the world and even the universe is but a prayer away.

Chicken

Chickens are typically a social creature that actually has a sense of curiosity. While they are not laying on a daily basis, there is time to wander about and do some pondering. Due to the use of Chicken as food, this creature also represents the unpredictable nature of both life and death.

Crow

Crow tells us not to fear change. All of us have shadows in our lives that need purging. That deep transformation isn’t easy, so Crow steps in to support your effort with greater insights. When you need that “higher perspective” –be it the Higher Self, Spirit Guides, Angels or God –call on Crow for aid.

Dove

Dainty Doves have been used as message carriers because they seem to always find their way home. So if Dove shows up in your life perhaps it is time to consider a quest to the place you call home, and pay close attention to any harbingers you encounter on the way. Their wings bear wisdom, good counsel and acceptance. In nature, doves are monogamous.
